But then someone was telling me that using the SMB protocol to do this made it really slow and didn't work well with larger files (which may happen if a user zips lots of files together and uploads them all at once). Azure's Files is like its Blob Storage in offering four performance tiers with added charges for optional snapshots and metadata backup. I read in the documentation that you can map and mount an azure file share as a network drive and it shows up in your windows explorer as a remote drive. I'm trying to move people away from sharepoint mostly because there is some downstream processing that happens to some of the files that needs for the data to land in an azure storage account. File storage for legacy applications Blob storage service organizes data uploaded to Azure into objects called 'blobs', which can be used for storing backups:/p> Further reading Azure as a Backup Storage Destination The total volume of blobs created by a single user can be up to 500TB. I have users that want to upload/download this information as easily as they do for sharepoint. If I have some arbitrary binary files in some custom extension, and these files are ~1-50mb, and then I may have some standard files like powerpoints, pdfs etc. I'm trying to get my head around my particular use case and determine if I should be using one or the other or both. I've read through a few articles that compare when/where/how you should use either but honestly its still not entirely clear to me since there seems to be overlap. For example, it can be used as a file share.Azure Blob Storage has finegrain access. ![]() As the title suggests I wanted to learn from the community's experience on using the two. Azure Blob storage is flexible and can be used for multiple purposes. ![]()
